We were looking at his military records. He was in Fort Hood in 1957 and was then in Germany from either 1957 or 58 to March 1960.
He was in the motor pool and his rank chang papers in 59 says he was in Co. H/H. My mom remembers Col. Pierce a.k.a. Axe Handle.
